MAYAN MARKET at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa

This was enjoyed by many of our guests, from both the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa and also the guests of Sandos Playacar were invited to visit the market and to enjoy this amazing day.
Throughout the day staff and guests alike enjoyed various different activities, including, the famous Ball Game, fire dances, a magnificent Mayan Show which took place in one of our 16 cenotes, a Shaman, and the opportunity to taste some of the traditional Mayan food and drink.
The Mayan people constitute a diverse range of the Native American people of southern Mexico and northern Central America. The largest group of modern Maya can be found on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. They commonly identify themselves simply as "Maya" with no further ethnic subdivision (unlike in the Highlands of Western Guatemala), and speak the language which anthropologists term "Yucatan Maya", but is identified by speakers and Yucatecos simply as "Maya". Among Maya speakers Spanish is commonly spoken as a second or first language.
